Time to get back on the computer and visit my friends.
for me.
Here's wishing for a wonderful weekend for you and yours too!
Kanye West needs to shut the hell up and do something if he doesn't like how the situation is being handled. My husband just left to go and *do something* why hasn't he? Why isn't he in New Orleans or Houston making himself useful rather than pissing people off and and alienating and dividing? He's a young, healthy man with resources to travel, why isn't he offering of himself? Because he would rather get on TV and make an ass out of himself, that's why. I assume he is throwing some money at the situation so as not to look bad, but this is a man who could truly *help* and he is on TV making it all worse.
How is it going to make it better to get on TV and accuse people of not helping these victims because they are black? All that is going to do is infuriate people and make them turn their TV sets off. Now this was a benefit to raise money and help for the victims? Yeah, that's exactly what you want to do...tick people off and make them not want to watch! Whatever.
As you can see from my private journal along the side bar, I like Kanye West's music. I have had his song, "Jesus Walks" in the top ten of my favorite music list since it came out. So I'm not *prejudiced* and I am not against him because he is *black*. I do not care what color someone is...if they need help they freaking need help! Sure, there are always going to be people that this does make a difference with....these people are assholes. Anyone who wouldn't offer to help someone because of what color they are is nothing more than a waste of space, in my opinion. And I don't care who gets angry over that, it is a fact. People are people and when they are starving and in need and right in your own country, you help them.
Kanye West has managed to accomplish three goals, as far as I can see it:
It's hard to know what to do right away when something like this happens. It is difficult to know where to begin when we are faced with something this overwhelming. But I can guarantee you this: getting on TV during a benefit that was designed to help the victims and acting in the manner in which Kanye West acted does NO ONE any good whatsoever.
If you have time to complain about the federal government, the National Guard, or anyone else who IS helping, then you have too much time on your hands. *DO SOMETHING*
I don't care if you have already done something, if you are complaining, you are wasting precious time. *I* am wasting time right now writing this. I could be going through my house putting together kits right now. I am a prime example of Kanye West alienating people and causing them to focus on things that are not doing anyone any good. Anger and outrage are time wasters...
Idle hands are the devil's playground. If you are busy trying to help, you won't have time to complain that much. Stop the armchair politician routine, save the critiquing of the situation and what should have been done till later, and *do something*!!! It's easy to sit back in your computer chair and say, "oh this should have been done or that should have been done and such and such is clearly responsible for this whole mess." It is NOT easy to do something. But doing something is the only thing that is going to fix this situation. Quit complaining about those who are helping and how they could possibly do it better and YOU do something.
Time's a wasting....I'm out of here.
