I am sick and tired of hateful people. Gia has written this piece of garbage over on her website. For those of you who do not want to soil your computer by going to her site, you can read it here:
I generally try not to comment in others' blogs if I don't have anything nice to say, but today I am making an exception. First of all, I thought you didn't believe in God? So this whole scenario that you just made up about God is just a fairy tale to you because you do not believe in Him, remember?
Next, I will agree with you on one point you made, you ARE a bigot. You hate the South huh? You think everyone in the South sits around and drinks beer and has a pick up truck and hates black people (I refuse to even repeat the word you used to describe them, I was taught better than that)? So we in the South deserve all of this because we are so very awful and stupid?
No, YOU are stupid. You are so busy hating others that you don't even know what you are talking about. But I have to hand it to you, Gia, at least you are honest about your hatred for others and don't hold back! You, sitting in another country playing armchair politician with all the answers...you think you can just hyperlink the word "Donate" to the Red Cross and that makes it all better? You think that you are doing your part? You would rather sit in your other country and complain rather than try and do something.
But you don't want to do anything, do you, Gia? Because you HATE the Southerners and you are GLAD that this has happened. You want to stir the crap by attempting to bring race into a natural disaster and criticize everyone on how fast they are helping and how much they are helping. But you? You are doing NOTHING...and worst of all? You don't WANT to do anything.
That is fine. We don't NEED your help. We don't need someone who doesn't even believe in God making up a bunch of fairy tales to explain why a natural disaster has occurred. We don't need you throwing around that nasty word that you have called black folks. You, apparently, were not taught any kind of manners or consideration for others...
I'm not going to waste any more of my time here reading your garbage. I read, often, to try to understand others' point of view, but you have just made me realize that I don't WANT to understand your point of view any longer. My time is better spent *doing something* to try and make this situation better. I will be busy today making packages to send off to those who need them. My husband has been at the airlift wing all weekend long helping to treat 1000 of those victims who need medical attention. Many of whom are black folks, who you have zero regard for and only use them to try and ridicule and insult Southerners. These black folks ARE Southerners. And you? You are the bigot you said you are...why don't YOU do something useful? If not, then stand back and let others. Don't waste people's time.

Why is it that Southerners always use the phrase 'Black Folks'- they *always* say 'Black Folks'... aren't they even 'People'? Alice, don't tell me how I think about people of different races. You have no idea of who I may be related to, who my friends are, who my neighbours are, where I live.
Next time, Alice, if you really want to help these people (or 'folks'), then vote for a government that will support them in their every day lives- pay for proper education of their kids, retrain the adults so they can work, give them healthcare- so that should disaster strike again they aren't so desperately poor that they can't do anything other than sit there and take it and wait for some housewife to send them a 'package' so that *she* feels like she's doing something nice to assuage her guilt for supporting a regime who has done nothing other than screw these people over time and time again.
I've spent the past 6 years fighting against the guy you and your friends seem to worship because I believe to the depths of my soul that every human being has basic rights- food, shelter, healthcare, education and the right to live their lives free from persecution and violence. I have campaigned, argued, protested, written to my governments, donated my time and money...
I have argued with you Bush-lovers over and over again and have just been called a 'cry baby', a 'leech', a 'Commie' and even my *mother* was picked on specifically because she thinks that America should be looking after its own poor in the innercities before trying to sort out other countries. This year I've even gone to fucking Downing Street because of something I spent huge amounts of time doing for people who need help.

We call americans of african descent "black folks" for the same reason we call those of european descent "white folks." Why do you insist on calling them "people?" We prefer the friendlier term "folks" because we believe that's the right way. In other words, "folks" is southern for "people." You may have known that if you spent more time learning about those you hate instead of seething with rage.

I hope you think that people who do everything they can to NOT help people who need it and actively work to take what little they have away from them are worse than "Dixiephobes". If so, we can meet on some middle ground.
For the record, I'm not a 'Dixiephobe'. I am, however, a 'KKKphobe' , a 'NeoNaziphobe', a 'White Supremesistphobe', a 'Fundamental Religious-typephobe', a 'Woman-Haterphobe', a 'Gun Worshipperphobe', a 'Bush Worshipperphobe', an 'I Love My Truck More Than My Womanphobe', a 'More Guns Than Teethphobe', a 'Confederate Flagphobe', but most importantly I'm a 'Wilfully Ignorantphobe'. Unfortunately, in my experience, there are just too many triggers for my phobias in the Southern parts of America. I hope that explains the subtle use of irony in my post. If not I'll spell it out for you- I DON'T LIKE RACISTS AND IDIOTS and the only place I've ever been that has large numbers of both is the South. Actually, that's not quite correct. Everywhere has racists and idiots, it's just that there are far more people who are PROUD of being racist idiots in the South.
Unfortunately, many Southerners, like your good selves, believe that simply not using the word 'nigger' means they aren't racist. Racism exhibits itself in many more insidious ways than that. I mean, someone really has to be a fucking idiot to use that word as a term of abuse, but why exactly then are all the faces we are seeing on TV in New Orleans black? There is an extremely long string of answers to that question and once you start digging you will see that your admonishment of me for using the word (albeit ironically) is as childish and ridiculous as the characters in 'Harry Potter' being unable to say Voldemort's name. Your fear of it smacks of superstition. The word isn't all-powerful. The dark, evil underbelly of the world you live in is the problem. Southern culture is racist and simply not saying the word 'nigger' doesn't mean that everything is OK.

I feel compassion for anyone who has undergone a natural disaster. I truly don’t understand how anyone could be so heartless as to blame an entire region for a hurricane. If you are not doing something to help the problem, them you, Gia, are the problem. Welcome to reality, it is your fault.

You have to admit from everything that you have seen over the past several days, there is a really big problem which goes back longer than the hurricane. And if you don't want to admit that, then you are blinded by regional pride.

What I mean by that is, try to imagine that there is more beyond what the TV camera captures. You only see what the MSM wants you to see. In addition, it's simple math...there is a much larger population of black folks than white folks (OMG did I say "folks" again? I did? Oh well!

new orleans was destroyed because there are too many people driving SUVs and raping the planet so they could have suburban homes with central AC and swimming pools.
americans, europeans, asians...white, black, red, brown, yellow (although i hate this color designation for asians...because we are NOT yellow - it comes from americans calling the first chinese immigrants "yellow" meaning cowards...and yes they did act like cowards because they were all lowly peasants, but we are not that any more so calling asians yellow is like calling a black person "nigger")...all people from all over the planet are responsible.

i've been to new orleans...rich white people live in suburban million dollar homes while poor blacks exist in slums riddled with murder, rape, and other sorts of nasty crime...
...and of course rich frat boys and girls from all over the U.S. come to get drunk and be on "Girls Gone Wild."
sure it's a great place to party...great place to live if you are rich and white. otherwise, if you are poor, uneducated, and black (or any other minority race), it's not such a great place to live.
and why is the situation so fucked up? because everyone saw the storm coming...including the bush administration...and did NOTHING to help. Why were the National Guard not called in to help evacuate the city? WHY THE FUCK WAS BUSH ON VACATION? hey, you the South...yes, you red states...you have to blame yourself on this one...because you voted the guy in...and he did NOTHING to help your situation.
Gosh. I've lived in the south all of my life. Was born and raised in small-town Tennessee. My parents were from practicaly-non-existant-on-any-map-town Virginia (back in the "Hills" and "Hollers" of southwest Virginia). We're not like that, at all.
Bloody hell, we need to take classes on how to be a true southerner. Anyone have information as to an institution that teaches such classes?

Here is the facts: These People (black folks, white folks, dumb folks, smart folks, forigners, and everyone else) are in deep peril. I don't care who is at fault, whether they believe in God or what their economic status and/or political beliefs are, the fact of the matter remains that all of these individuals are hurting. They hurt for everything. Food, money, churches, water, clothes, bathing facilities, and most importantly, compassionate people. There are people in this world who blame everything on someone else. I guess that is the easy thing to do. This was not an act of terrorism. It was not an act of a republican or democrat. Democrats are suffering too. What is truly characteristic of Americans is that we will band together when needed to help those in need. I personally could care less what or who you are, only do you need help. Believe it or not, most of the New Orleans population is black. If you knew your history, most of the United States African- American population voted for democrat candidate John Carey. My point is, that this was a NATURAL DISASTER. They need help. I have seen, talked, and taked care of those struggling with this disaster. They hurt. They are sick. They are human beings. They feel pain and emotions. For you to devalue human life with your opinions is insignificant right now. Here is the kicker to all of this. Maybe this is the difference between me and you. If you, as a self pretentious northerner, needed help tommorow, I would be there for you. This is in spite of the fact that you are a despicable human being. I would be there for you. The real question is would you be there for anyone else or would you just blindly and naively judge us instead?

i say "natural" because there is nothing "natural" about the storm the destroyed N.O. scientists have warned the world about things like this for years. and what does Bush and his administration do? nothing. they say they believe in God yet deny the existance of scientific fact. they allow the automotive industry to make cars that get 9 miles per gallon and actually give pollution credits so their friends can make more money. no...there is nothing "natural" about this disaster. republicans and greedy american energy companies and suburban soccer-moms driving big-ass SUVs with their overconsuming botox-ridden fat asses are the cause.
sure, send packages...send the spare changes you collect at work...go save few hundred people...if we don't change (and start by signing the Kyoto agreement), N.O. will see another storm...Florida will see anther storm...N.Y. will see anther storm...

Why? Because that's just the way it is, Kataly5t. There are many factors that might contribute to a hurricane, but I don't think that it's very sensible to blame them on a president or a person driving an SUV, LOL. Last time I checked, the dinosaurs didn't drive SUVs and neither did the Maya Indians. Nice try, though. I give you an A+ for creativity and a D- for showing respect for those who are trying to help others (like my husband, who posted earlier). One day you might find yourself in need of a rescue worker and we'll see how you talk to one then...

Gia... dead giveaway that you do not have the good fortune to be a Southerner."folks" is an AFFECTIONATE word for family. People is a more generic term used for those that are casual acquaintances. We help out our own, if our neighbor is needing something, we are there. Millions of dollars has been donated from Southern states. the thugs and vandals (who really needs a big screen tv if you have no house for it? Get the education and a job and buy your own. Don't steal it or expect it to be handed to you.

Mayor of NO is democrat. Bush declared NO/LA a disaster area 2 DAYS before Katrina hit. Nagin offered the superdome as an area of refuge. Problem is, that jackass forgot to make sure there were supplies. Just over a mile away were hundreds of schoolbuses that could have evacuated the people who had no transportation. Instead, he chose to sit on his ass in the Hyatt, after making sure that the TOURISTS who obviously had the money to vacation in NO could get out of town when anyone with a brain could tell it was a good idea to leave if it was possible.
And yeah, it was definitely Bush's fault that the hurricane occurred. The man has ULTIMATE power in the universe and thought that it was time that NO got theirs. yeah, right. NO has had the opportunity for decades to reinforce the emergency plan for their city. They waited til 2 days after the hurricane to ask for help. The federal government cannot just waltz in and take control. There's a little thing called "states' right" (remember civics?) and the feds must be ASKED to intervene in the country. NO released the prisoners in the pricons in town. Those are some of the jackasses shooting at the relief supplies. Kyoto is a piece of crap and meaningless. The earth periodically cools and heats up and has been doing so for thousands of years. All the hurricanes in the past few years. Check with NOAA, we are on a downswing and have been for over 50 years. should start an upswing in about the next 50 or so. Check to see which countries in the world are the worse polluters. I think you'll find that Mexico, Venuezuela, China among the WORST offenders. Oddly enough, the US doesn't even make the top 10.
Any reason why the people of NO can't take any personal responsibility and try to get the best education they can? Don't drop out of school. Bother to show up for classes now and then. See what you can do to help yourself instead of waiting for the government to do it. That's how I got my education. My parents couldn't afford to give me one, so I got my own. From them I got the encouragement to do what I wanted and go as far as I could. Husband and I have owned our own businesses for over 20 years. Small business. Hired men out of jail looking for another chance. Homeless guy looking for a way off the street. While they were working, I was on the phone trying to find additional help for them. Making suggestions on better presentation for themselves so they could go on to better jobs. And no, we paid more than minimum wage...we paid them $10/hr which in the 90s was decent money. That is what we paid all our workers and they seemed to do just fine. That's what I got paid when I worked for our business. $10/hr. Now, of course, we'd pay more, but our business is now a one man shop.
Let's see...are there any other facts that I can tell you and suggest that you check in to? Oh yeah, you're not going to bother to read this so I am probably wasting my time.
How about sending your angry letter to the mayor of NO and the gov of LA for not getting off their corrupt fat asses in time to get the people who made the mistake of voting them into office some help, instead of waiting for other states like Tx (which has taken in 200,000 refugees so far), Arkansas, PA, IA, FL...they've sent their national guard units and police to help out. Funny out well things were ironed out and quickly on the road once the feds did show up and see what needed to be done. Shame that the legendary corrupt politicians of LA didn't see fit to protect their own people. Once again, someone else has to bail them out. At least you should be happy that your tax dollars are goign somewhere you "approve" of.

I am writing about the people who for decades, centuries, have refused to give black people a chance, the people who have kept them in poverty, the people who think they should just pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get on with it because "That's what I did"...

*ahem* How I see it, when your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents etc have been owned, beaten, raped, called 'boy' when they are a man, forced to sit at the back of the bus, lynched, hunted and denied entry to shops, cinema, restaurants and schools, you don't come from a background which values education. You need a lot of help to break that cycle...
See, we 'liberals' think breaking those kinds of cycles are the single-most important thing to do for the future of our planet. Education is the best way out of poverty. I don't believe in just giving handouts, I believe in helping people help themselves... but they need that initial bit of help.
This hurricane is a horrible disaster, but what's worse, to me, is that the people worst hit have been living a life of hell for a long time before this. The worst and most wide-spread poverty and the least educated people in America are in the South... and the majority of them are black.

There will be more hurricanes, more 'natural' disasters and unless something very drastic is done to change government policy on education, healthcare, pollution then you'll be right back there doing what you're doing now... and it will never end.

Southerners, why not go look at the Tolerance.org map of hate groups in the US... where are the majority of them?
